Ruby Wedding Series Unveiled at the 8th CIIE
Marking seven consecutive years at China’s most prestigious import expo, WINZA debuted its landmark Ruby Wedding Series — a collection celebrating love through Kashmir’s finest rubies. Founder Aqeel Ahmed Chaudhry (李龙) invited his UK-based sisters to join the stand, bridging three continents. The brand now operates 5 boutiques and 3 offices across Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
Third China Boutique Opens at Dalian Friendship Mall
WINZA extended its retail footprint into northeast China with the opening of its third branded boutique at Dalian Friendship Mall — one of the city’s most prestigious retail addresses. The milestone reflects the brand’s deliberate strategy to penetrate second and third-tier cities, bringing Kashmir’s gem heritage to a new generation of Chinese jewellery enthusiasts.
Seventh CIIE — Five Years as an Independent Brand Pavilion
At the 7th China International Import Expo, WINZA celebrated its fifth year as an independent brand exhibitor. The National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) had become a second home — a stage where Lahore’s craftsmanship and Shanghai’s energy converged each November. Franchise inquiries flowed in from across China’s provinces.

100 Million RMB in Orders — Before Halftime
The 6th CIIE became WINZA’s most defining China chapter yet. Before the expo had even reached its halfway point, the brand had secured over 100 million RMB in signed intent orders. Boutiques were operating in Shanghai and Shenyang, with franchise negotiations active across more than 10 cities nationwide.
WINZA Debuts at CIFTIS — Entering Beijing & Planning Digital Growth
WINZA expanded beyond the CIIE orbit to debut at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing. The Shanghai flagship store was by then generating 5–6 million RMB in annual sales with an outstanding 60% repeat customer rate. Aqeel outlined partnerships with JD.com and Tmall to bring WINZA to China’s vast e-commerce audience.

Fourth CIIE — Royal Blue Sapphire & 70th Anniversary Collection
Building on 2020’s breakthrough, WINZA doubled its booth size at the 4th CIIE, showcasing Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Diamond across a breathtaking expanded stand. Centrepieces included a 25-carat Royal Blue Sapphire and a Clover-shaped sapphire necklace. In tribute to 70 years of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations, a limited 20g silver commemorative coin was produced.
First Independent WINZA Pavilion — 5 Million RMB & Three Partnerships
Amid the global pandemic, WINZA secured its first fully independent brand pavilion — a 36 square metre stand presenting 36 meticulously chosen gemstones. Pakistan’s Ambassador Moin ul Haque and Consul General Hussein Haider visited the stand. The expo generated approximately ~5 million RMB in sales and three signed cooperation agreements with Shanghai partners. WINZA’s first Shanghai flagship boutique followed on East Nanjing Road, Huangpu District.
First Exhibition in China — Over 1 Million RMB in Three Days
Having pre-booked the stand on-the-spot at the inaugural CIIE, WINZA made its first-ever appearance as an exhibitor at the 2nd CIIE. The response was immediate and overwhelming — within just three days, the brand collected over 1 million RMB in orders. The first WINZA specialty store in mainland China opened at New World Daimaru (新世界大丸百货) in Shanghai.
The Discovery That Changed Everything
Walking the grand halls of the inaugural China International Import Expo as an observer, Aqeel Ahmed Chaudhry recognised an extraordinary opportunity. He saw the CIIE as the perfect bridge for WINZA’s Kashmir gemstones to reach China’s luxury consumers — and pre-booked the following year’s exhibition stand on the spot.
The Founder Arrives in Shanghai — A Bridge Between Two Worlds
Aqeel Ahmed Chaudhry — who had studied in China for nearly a decade, mastered Mandarin, and been gifted the Chinese name 李龙 (Lǐ Lóng) — settled permanently in Shanghai after graduation. He married a Chinese wife, won a national first-class scholarship, and began laying the foundations to bring WINZA’s Kashmir gem legacy to the Chinese market. Fluent in Mandarin and English, he became the natural bridge between Pakistan’s gem-mining highlands and China’s rising luxury class.
1972 · Gulberg III, Lahore, Pakistan
Founded in Lahore — Five Decades of Gem Heritage
In the elegant tree-lined neighbourhood of Gulberg III, Lahore, the Chaudhry family established what would become WINZA — a house of fine jewellery rooted in Pakistan’s extraordinary mineral wealth. Kashmir sapphires, Hunza Valley rubies, Swat emeralds. Over five decades, the family built an entirely vertically integrated operation — from gemstone mining and precision cutting to jewellery design and retail — all under one roof through the parent COSMO Group. What began in Lahore more than fifty years ago now graces clients across China, Pakistan, and beyond.
